Meanwhile, Logan finds himself in an even weirder relationship when he discovers his new girlfriend, Danica Bricker, is the strict vice principal’s daughter. Meanwhile, Garrett tries to get over the loss of his "Bigger Buddy", Paul, by becoming one to another little boy, Finn.
Story
In the cold opener, the Fab 5 and other students are stranded at the front lobby of DITKA High. Some strange lights are flashing at the front door. Delia has a strange device of her own around her neck and is excited over the prospect of being abducted by what she believes to be her alien boyfriend. Garrett uses Delia's ridiculous romantic hopes to intimidate a small boy. Just as the doors are opening, the scene cuts to the opening theme.
A caption on the screen says “One Week Earlier” in front of a heavy snowfall at the DITKA High building. In the cafeteria, Jasmine tries to convince Lindy to go to a party run by a "bad boy" named Dean. Delia announces that since she is incompatible with all the boys at school, and presumably throughout the Chicago Metropolitan Area, the only boys that are right for her are from somewhere in outer space. Jasmine, who previously assumed that the reason might be her refusal to get a makeover, is convinced that she's on the verge of insanity, and so is Lindy. The scene changes to Logan and Garrett in a classroom, where a lesson has just ended. Logan notices the excessive snowfall and invites Garrett to join him in building snow girlfriends, an activity Garrett finds too juvenile. Ironically, Garrett runs off to meet his "Bigger Buddy" Paul, who has been with him since he was six years old. Just then, a girl named Danica Bricker approaches Logan. The shy brunette struggles to tell him that she finds him attractive, but then comes right out and admits it. When another student walks into the room, Danica suddenly becomes hostile towards Logan and attacks him. Afterwards, she asks him out on a date and explains that she has to hide the fact that she's dating any boys from her father. At Rumble Juice, Garrett is telling a story about how he felt cheated out of an exact amount of crackers in a bag to Paul, who actually lived through the experience. Paul tries to convince Garrett that both of them are too old for the Bigger Buddy program and he needs to move on. 26-year-old Paul now has a wife and kid of his own, and he missed his child's first step because he was in the park trying to teach Garrett to fly a kite. Later at school, Lindy keeps receiving texts from Jasmine asking her if she's attending Dean's party. While discussing it with Delia, Delia reveals that Lindy's friends invite her to various parties and such because she is so good that they can never get in trouble. Lindy has "parental approval." A short montage of the kids talking on the phone with their parents asking for permission to go to dangerous places and mentioning the presence of Lindy follows. Believing that her friendships are based on how much of a goody-two-shoes she is, Lindy decides she's not going to be as much of one. Garrett tells Logan about his meeting with Paul and suggests that he become a bigger buddy to some other young misfortunate child. After Garrett leaves, Danica sneaks up behind Logan in order to spend time with him and inquires about where they'll be meeting for their date. Just then, the new vice principal, Mr. Bricker, begins giving detention slips to various random and anonymous students. Danica reveals that the vice principal is her father, and is far more volatile than she is towards any boy who tries to go out with her. Danica quotes that Mr. Bricker would, "fail him, CRUSH HIM, and FAIL HIM AGAIN!" Lindy puts her feet on the cafeteria table in an attempt to show that she has gone bad. Jasmine tries to tell her that simply putting your feet on a table isn't enough to get a bad rap, only to be spotted by Mr. Bricker, who asks her why she can't be as good as Lindy. Just then, Delia approaches the table wearing a cone-like device around her neck built by NASA that is designed to send and receive signals to aliens from outer space. Back at Rumble Juice, Garrett repeats his story to Logan about how he was cheated by the cracker company, while Logan waits for his date with Danica, who suddenly turns away when she finds out he's with someone who could reveal their relationship. Noticing that Logan has some kind of secret, Garrett insists that he reveal it, and somehow interprets Logan's speech on how he can't tell anybody what's going on that he's dating Danica. Just then, Finn, the little buddy that Garrett was supposed to mentor, walks in. Logan leaves the two of them alone, and Finn realizes he's going to be in trouble once Garrett begins retelling the cracker story. The next day at class, Lindy makes another attempt at her reputation as a bad girl by spewing a profanity-filled tirade that is drowned out by the school fire bell. Mr. Bricker reveals the fire drill and asks which one of the students is the safety monitor, and Lindy, unfortunately, confesses to being that monitor. Jasmine continues to tease Lindy over her attempt to make herself look bad. Later, Danica tries to get Logan to walk home from school but hurts him again when they're spotted by other students. Logan tries to break up with her, but she threatens to tell her father about their relationship and accuse him of breaking her heart. Finn approaches Garrett and reveals that he has another bigger buddy named "P.J.", who happens to be a fireman. The scene is followed by another montage of the non-fun times that Garrett ended up showing him. Just then, Mr. Bricker announces over the PA system that the blizzard is going to keep the kids snowed in at school. Unfortunately for Finn, he is included. Two hours later, the kids are all gathered in the school cafeteria. Finn panics over the prospect of starving to death due to the blizzard, and Garrett teases him by threatening to eat "the smallest and the cutest kids" in the school. Mr. Bricker enters the cafeteria and reveals that he had called all the kids' parents and that they weren't worried because Lindy was there. Danica manipulates her father into letting her take Logan into the school supply closet with the promise of bringing space heaters that are stored in there. Suddenly, Delia's alien signal device gets a spike, and she begins to suspect that they're actually landing at school. When Finn asks what she's trying to do, Garrett tells him that Delia's trying to contact some aliens for her abduction, but suggests that they're actually coming for him. Just then, the lights at the school go dark, only to be replaced by emergency lights. A strange noise can be heard outside of school, and Delia is convinced they're retro-rockets from a spaceship that's landing. Filled with excitement, she runs to the front doors near the lobby and presses her face up against the glass which reflects those strange lights. Delia announces their arrival to her fellow students. Lindy tries to discourage her from her quest for alien love, only for the background to be filled with typical 1950's science-fiction related music. It's revealed to be a ringtone of a nerdy student, who answers his phone and asks Lindy to reveal her presence to his mother. The scene is returned to the opening scene where Delia awaits her extraterrestrial romance, and Garrett teases Finn about being abducted. The doors open, but it's not aliens that enter the school. Instead, it's three firemen, one of which removes his helmet and ski mask to reveal that he's Paul, who just so happens to be "P.J.", Finn's Bigger Buddy. PJ reveals that the flashing lights that Delia was hoping to be from an alien spacecraft were little more than emergency lights from snowplow trucks that were plowing snow for emergency vehicles, such as his firetruck. PJ and his fellow firemen rescue Finn from the school. Just then, Logan and Danica walk by with space heaters, and Mr. Bricker asks how they made out with the retrieval of them, which Logan misinterprets as being caught in a make-out session. Logan insists that he and Danica only hugged before finally breaking his silence and confessing that they're in a relationship. Much to his surprise, Mr. Bricker has no problem with Logan and Danica being together, on the condition that Lindy joins them on their future dates. Which Lindy and Logan obviously refuse because of Danica’s abusive and volatile nature towards Logan. Disappointed with not having her close encounter of the fourth kind, Delia removes her alien signal collar, and Lindy and Jasmine try to console her. She starts to realize that she was deceiving herself by thinking that the right boy for her is either in outer space or inner space. Both girls try to reassure Delia that she will find a boyfriend and that he's sure to be a human being. As they walk away, the nerdy kid with the sci-fi ringtone approaches Delia, revealing that he had overheard their conversations about aliens... and that he's one himself. But instead of being an alien from outer space, he tells her he's an alien from another country: CANADA! In an alternate ending, the three girls approach the front doors in the lobby which are lit by the same flashing lights and clouded over by the blizzard. Finn opens the doors... and reveals that he is an alien who has a third eye. Finn tells them that he has to come home, but wants to invite one of the girls. Delia jumps at the chance to travel with him, but Finn insists that Lindy should be the one. Lindy is touched, until Finn explains that he took his parents' spacecraft without their permission and the presence of Lindy might help smooth things over with them. As it turns out, the Lindy Watson parental stamp of approval even transcends into outer space. |
